Joe C. Meriweather (born October 26, 1953 – October 13, 2013) was an American professional basketball player.
A 6'10" center from Southern Illinois University, Meriweather played ten seasons (1975–1985) in the NBA as a member of the Houston Rockets, Atlanta Hawks, New Orleans Jazz, New York Knicks, and Kansas City Kings. He earned NBA All-Rookie honors in his first season, during which he averaged 10.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.5 blocks. Over the course of his NBA career, Meriweather averaged 8.1 points, 5.6 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks.〔(http://www.basketball-reference.com/players/m/meriwjo01.html ).〕
He played for the US national team in the 1974 FIBA World Championship, winning the bronze medal.〔(1974 USA Basketball )〕
